Our founder
InTherapy at Onega Gate was created by Claire Butt, a practising therapist who built the space she wished had existed when she started her own practice.
After years of working from clinical hourly rentals – spaces that were impersonal, lacked warmth, and offered no sense of professional belonging – Claire set out to create something different. A therapy centre designed from the inside out, by someone who understands what therapists actually need day to day.
Claire’s bio
I am an integrative psychotherapist with specialist training in sex and pornography addiction therapy. I trained with Dr Paula Hall and the late Dr Thaddeus Birchard.
I work with people who are struggling with compulsive and addictive behaviours, and with partners who have been impacted by those behaviours. I have a particular interest in working with clients who hold a Christian worldview.
I am an accredited member of the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC), and a clinical associate at The Laurel Centre.
My aim is to provide a therapeutic space that feels authentic, warm, relational, and genuinely helpful. I work holistically, bringing together your felt, somatic experience with your thoughts and emotions. My approach is designed to help you connect with – rather than suppress – your feelings, develop a healthier and more stable sense of self, build stronger relationships with yourself and others, and find freedom from old, limiting patterns of behaviour.
I encourage self-compassion and support you in building emotional resilience.
Our purpose
InTherapy at Onega Gate exists to provide safety, autonomy, professional quality, hybrid capability, community connection, and financial sustainability for therapists.
It was created not as a high-volume commercial venture, but as a meaningful contribution to the profession. A simple belief drives everything: when therapists are given the right environment, their work – and their clients – benefit.
